Hitting the campaign trail in the swing state of New Hampshire Saturday, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan called on voters to support his running mate Mitt Romney, the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts, as a candidate of compromise.

He reached across the aisle without compromising principal and he balanced the budget without raising taxes. That's the kind of leadership we need."

Vice President Joe Biden stumped for votes in the battleground state of Florida, reminding voters of Romney's videotaped comments deriding 47 percent of the electorate as dependent on federal aid.

"With your help, we will win Florida, with your help, we will represent 100 percent of the American people still and with your help, we will win this election. God bless you all and may God protect our troops. Thank you. Thank you."

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows U.S. President Barack Obama with a five point lead over Romney ahead of next week's first debate in the race for the White House.
