Tourist Robs Bakery for Cannoli Using Knife - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Tourists usually like to experience the local culture and food of their destination.
But one Irish tourist went a little too far in his efforts to taste a famous cannoli, while visiting a Boston bakery.
Shortly after arriving in Massachusetts for a two-week stay, 25-year-old Robert McTernan walked into Bova's Bakery at 3:30 in the morning.
Yielding a knife, he demanded cannolis from an employee. The wise bakery worker met his demands and McTernan left, but police quickly arrested him.
The whole scene was caught on surveillance footage. The Irish thief can even be seen chewing on his prized cannoli as he was departing the bakery. McTernan is being held on $2,000 bond. He also had to forfeit his passport.
Earlier this year, another thief targeted a bakery, this time in San Diego. Surveillance from the shop showed a crook grabbing some sticky buns and cinnamon rolls.
Deemed the sticky buns bandit, he had broken into the same bakery twice. The owner stated “We're super flattered more than anything. I kinda felt sorry for the guy.”
