You don't actually get pulled over for a DWI. They can either pull you over for community caretaking or they can pull you over for a traffic violation which is failure to signal lane change or speeding. But either of these is just the first step in investigating you for a DWI. Once you roll down the window, they say you smell like alcohol, your eyes are bloodshot, you admit to drinking.
And then starts the DWI investigation.
