Hundreds of demonstrators stormed the U.S. embassy in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on Thursday.

Security guards fired into the air to scare the protesters away but they forced themselves through the main gate of the heavily fortified compound.

The protesters also torched a number of vehicles outside the building's perimeter.
