Police in Northern Ireland in a tense standoff with rioters for a second night.

At least 15 Belfast officers were wounded overnight on Monday after being hit with stones, bottles and Molotov cocktails.

Another 47 were hurt in clashes Sunday evening.

Police deployed water cannon and plastic bullets in an attempt to disperse the crowds, but the angry protesters remained defiant.

Unrest here has grown in recent days over competing parades by Protestant and Catholic groups.

Seven people have been arrested so far and more arrests were expected.
