98 Lottery Winners Had Same Number - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Talk about a bizarre lottery coincidence.
Recent winners of the Fantasy 5 jackpot had to share their prize with 98 other winners who had the winning five-out-of-five combination numbers. Although a single winner can win as much as $200,000 cash prize, splitting with almost 100 others gives each of the winners close to $2,000.
Oddly enough, the winning combination had the single digit, odd numbers 1-3-5-7-9. They are a commonly chosen set of numbers among players who pick them manually
Out of the 98 winners, only one was a Quick Pick computer generated ticket.
While birthdays and anniversaries are often used as basis for choosing numbers, a statistics expert says “Do not pick the common numbers!”. Although every combination is equally likely to win, uncommon digits will mean less sharing if you win.
As lucky as Fantasy 5 winners were, a Virginia man, Joseph Sylvester was luckier. Earlier this year, he won the lottery twice in three months. He won $100,000 in April, during the Cash 5 game and another $100,000 in July.
