Rebekah Brooks, the former chief executive of News International, has been charged by the UK's public prosecutor with perverting the course of justice, as the scandal enveloping Rupert Murdoch's News Corp media empire deepens.

But, the ex-tabloid editor decried the hacking charges saying that the true details would emerge.
