Homemade Biscuits
Nothing says brunch like fresh out of the oven biscuits!
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 625 mL
2 tbsp granulated sugar 25 mL
1 tbsp baking powder 15 mL
½ tsp salt 2 mL
¾ cup butter, cubed 175 mL
1 cup milk (approx.) 250 mL
In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using pastry blender or fingertips cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once, stirring with fork to make soft, slightly sticky dough.
On lightly floured surface, knead dough gently about 10 times. Pat dough into ½ inch thick round. Using floured cookie cutter cut out rounds. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Gather scraps and cut out more rounds.
Brush tops of biscuits with milk. Bake in 425 F (220 C) oven for about 12 minutes or until golden. Makes about 12 biscuits.
