The leaders of the rival Palestinian parties Hamas and Fatah have agreed to a new unity government.

All previous attempts at unity have failed - but both sides say they are now committed to making this government work.

After years of being based in the Syrian capital, Damascus, Hamas has now also pulled its last political representative out of Syria indicating severed ties with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, condemned Monday's deal, saying it will not negotiate with Hamas until it renounces violence.

Al Jazeera's Cal Perry reports from the west Bank.
