Alassane Ouattara won the Cote d'Ivoire presidential polls six months ago, but was only inaugurated as president on Sunday, after a bitter and bloody standoff with the former president, Laurent Gbagbo, in which 3000 people were killed as the two men struggled for power.
It was a ceremony attended by around 20 heads of state, and one which his supporters hope will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the country's troubled history.
Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports from the inauguration.
