A plane on a mission - to combat the spread of the deadly West Nile virus in the U.S.

This plane in Dallas County is spraying aerial insecticide to kill mosquitoes that carry the disease - despite concerns about human exposure to the pesticide.

Officials say spraying is the most effective way to fight the virus, which has already killed 10 people and affected 200 others thus far - more than in any other year.

The virus, which usually flares up in the summer, causes fever and aches that can become severe and lead to death, especially in high-risk groups.

There is no specific treatment for the West Nile infection.
