Heriz is a district in Northwest Iran. It is 40 miles west of Tabriz. The rugs that are woven in this place are known as Heriz rugs. They are reflections of the designs of Tabriz. The weavers of these rugs are Shia Muslims, who speak Southern Azeri. Raw materials are collected from the areas of Mount Sabalan. These people are actually the descendants of refugees, who migrated here from Old Persia.
