Thieves Steal ATM Machine, Getaway Vehicle Doesn't Start - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Thieves will sometimes go to drastic and desperate measures to get what they want. And after all those efforts, often they still don’t get the desired prize.
Two crooks in Sussex, UK wanted an ATM machine so badly that they stole a bulldozer to dislodge it from the wall of a bank building at approximately 3:15 in the morning.
When the cash machine was lifted, it was placed in the back of the getaway vehicle, a blue Toyota pick-up truck.
After all the hard work, the truck refused to start, leaving the men no other option but to take off on foot, minus a vehicle and the ATM. Police are still searching for the criminals and are asking for the public’s assistance.
Earlier this summer, another ATM heist took place at a quick saver in Houston, Texas. According to the store owner, the ATM had about $2000. He tells the Houston Chronicle - "they backed a pickup through the plate-glass window and brick wall, hooked a chain around the ATM machine near the checkout counter and yanked it out."
