Over a thousand kilograms of cocaine are displayed by Panama police.

After several raids across the Central American country, a stash weighing in at 1.16 metric tons was confiscated.

In the largest haul, 577 kilograms were seized on Panama's Pacific Coast.

In another operation, two vehicles in Darien Region - which sits on the border with Colombia - were found containing 373 kilograms.

Two people were arrested.

SOUNDBITE: FRANK ABREGO, PANAMANIAN BORDER SERVICE DIRECTOR, SAYING (Spanish):

"The truck drew our attention because it is unusual to see a refrigerated truck in such a remote area. We stopped it and it was empty, but then during an interrogation the suspect revealed where the drugs were really hidden. We then searched the truck again and found the drugs."

Officials have seized over 16 tons of various narcotics since 2012.

They praised the latest operation, saying it had dealt a "hard blow" to drug trafficking.
