Floods triggered by relentless rains across large parts of China forced hundreds of residents to evacuate their homes on Thursday, state television CCTV reported.

In southern China's Guangxi province, rescuers in Baise evacuated more than 100 trapped residents after heavy rains flooded their homes, state media said.

Downpours that began Sunday in southwest China's Chongqing caused flooding up to seven metres (22 feet) in depth, according to CCTV.

In total, the storms have affected about 9.2 million people across China and forced about 1.18 million residents to evacuate, Xinhua said earlier in the week.
