German Chancellor Angela Merkel has won a crucial eurozone vote without relying on the opposition for her victor.

Parliament members in the Bundestag, Germany's lower house, passed a bill to beef up the Europe's bailout funds, allowing Merkel to avoid political humiliation.

The European Commission and traders in the US have welcomed the move.
