Online giants Google and Facebook are facing renewed criticism over potential privacy violations, as both companies roll out new policies for how they deal with users' data.

The companies say that their new policies make it easier to keep track of what users are sharing, but critics say that ease cuts both ways - potentially making it easier for users to mistakenly share data they would rather keep private.
