Gardener Uses Trowel to Ward Off Robbers - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Anyone that’s ever had a garden knows the effort and precious time required for maintenance.
But how far would you go to protect those plants?
A 67 year old English gentleman by the name of Harry Cook,, confronted and stopped two flower crooks while brandishing a trowel.
Harry has spent countless hours in his yard and his efforts have enabled him to win the 'Britain in Bloom' competition three years in a row, so when he caught thieves dismantling his flower displays and putting them in a van, Cook was ready to fight.
Harry caught them red-handed stating, “You're not having them. You can put the blooming things back” and continued to tell reporters “I was furious, I was holding my garden trowel and I think they both knew I wasn't going to give up my flowers without a hell of a fight”.
The criminals managed to get away before police arrived, however they departed empty-handed.
In another example of thieves targeting seemingly mundane things, earlier this summer, a thief in Athens, Georgia who made off with 3 thousand dollars worth of wooden toothpicks.
