Pests can become a huge problem if you do not properly control them. There are certain things all homeowners need to do.

Ants are a big headache. Even a few ants can mean a whole colony is hiding inside or just outside your home. You must keep food sources away. Check roof and pipes for leaks since damp wood attracts them.

Cockroaches are another major problem pest. Any location with a source of food and water is like a magnet to them. Once your home is infested they are notoriously difficult to eliminate.

Rats and mice are trouble too. It takes the smallest of cracks to enter! Seal all cracks they can access; even just 1/4-inch wide is enough. Plug with spackling compound. Consider mixing steel wool fragments in too. This keeps rats from gnawing back inside.

Monitor chimney and attic entrance holes. Raccoons and bats can enter. Put a screen made of wire mesh on these entrance holes.

Call a professional company if residential pest control problems are too big. They know what to do and how to do it!
