Police investigating the deaths of five German climbers in the Alps say their initial inquiries suggest the group were not roped together. The leader of the rescue team had said they were.
 
The five plunged several hundred metres on their way down from the 4,000-metre Lagginhorn. Two of the dead were teenagers.
