American singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten recorded her third album Tramp in between tours with Aaron Dessner of rock band The National. The irregular work schedule worried her, but also proved to be an advantage: not one song on Tramp sounds the same. Just like Van Etten wanted. "I wanted the sequence of the songs to feel like there was an arc and then a resolve. I didn't want to be predictable."
