Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 29 Flight Engineer Satoshi Furukawa of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) demonstrated the new Super Sensitive High Definition Television Camera (SSHDTV) with the help of station Commander Mike Fossum during a series of interactive broadcasts with Japanese TV network NHK on Sep. 18.

The camera, which is designed to operate in low-level lighting, captured unique views of natural phenomena such as lightning and Earth's aurora for an excited viewing audience in Japan.
