Acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani's father, Suresh Hirani, passed away late night on June 3 after a prolonged illness. The last rites were conducted on June 4 at the Municipal Hindu Cemetery, Santacruz. Hirani, who has been busy with the promotions of Rajesh Mapuskar's Ferrari Ki Sawaari lately, was in Mumbai for the funeral.
Many of the filmmaker's friends from the industry, including Aamir Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Boman Irani, Sharman Joshi, Raageshwari Loomba and Shantanu Moitra had come to lend their support. The 3 Idiots director's father had moved to Nagpur after the India-Pakistan partition in 1947.
