Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Metroid II: Return of Samus from Nintendo for the Game Boy. Metroid II isn't your stereotypical handheld spin-off. In fact, the story arc of the Metroid series — including the real sequels for consoles — is built upon foundations laid in this portable, puny, puke-green game. Like the NES original, Metroid II is in a genre all its own. It's not a platform game and it's not an action game, although it does include the primary components of both. First and foremost in any Metroid title is the importance of exploration, an emphasis that's as clear in this game as even Super Metroid or Metroid Prime. This video review features video gameplay footage of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Game Boy and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
