Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Kirby's Dream Land from HAL Laboratory and Nintendo for the Game Boy. Released in 1992, Kirby's Dream Land is a huge deal as Game Boy games go. It introduced Kirby and was designed by Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind Super Smash Bros. and Kid Icarus Uprising. Kirby's Dream Land is a 2D platform game, a common genre for the games released prior to the 3D revolution. As the very first Kirby title, however, some of the classic Kirby ideas weren't yet realized. The ability to swallow enemies and copy their abilities, for example — that's something Kirby couldn't do in this very simple debut. This video review features video gameplay footage of Kirby's Dream Land for the Game Boy and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
