Soon after Barack Obama was elected president of the United States in 2008, he issued official statements citing the major issues facing a specific poverty-stricken school in the state of South Carolina.

But years afterwards, the public school, which was built in 1917 in the city of Dillon, continues to fall apart due to a lack of funds and renovation.

Students and staff say the facilities are becoming more dilapidated and the quality of education is only worsening.
