More than 300 new fires have broken out in Russia, as the country's record-setting summer heat continues.

At least 28 people have died and thousands have been evacuated.

Army troops and volunteers have joined the more than 22,000 fire fighters battling the fires, but they face an uphill battle against Mother Nature.
