Cattle rustling has always plagued southern Sudan. But after two civil wars, warring tribes are now heavily armed, and the raids are becoming ever more brutal.

Thousands are killed every year. And as May Welsh reports, communities in Terekeka county say a government campaign to disarm civilians has left them unable to protect themselves.
