In a country notorious for drugs, those in charge of enforcing the law under difficult and dangerous conditions are hardly insulated from the attractions of opium and heroin use.

Now, addicts in uniform have the opportunity to undergo a special treatment involving counselling to overcome their addiction. But many say that narcotics use is a major social problem in Afghanistan, which makes the challenge for recovering addicts all the greater once their treatment is over.
