Israel has threatened a "strong" response against Palestinians after a rocket attack from Gaza killed a man.

It was the first deadly attack launched from the Strip since the end of Israel's war on Gaza in January 2009.

The attack came as the EU's foreign policy chief Katherine Ashton was visiting Gazajoined the UN in condemning the violence.
