India and Pakistan have held their first high level talks between the countries' foreign secretaries on Thursday after a 14-month diplomatic standoff.

Co-ordinated attacks in Mumbai, India's financial capital, in 2008 by armed men allegedly from Pakistan, had prompted India to freeze talks with Islamabad.

The country accused Pakistan of not taking enough action against "terrorist" groups.

Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports from New Delhi, on the talks and the opportunity that it provides to help reduce tensions and rebuild trust between the two nuclear rivals.
