Russians are continuing to vote in parliamentary elections, as opposition groups and electoral observers reported instances of poll violations.

Dmitry Medvedev, the country's president, cast his vote on Sunday in the elections, with the popularity of the ruling party United Russia seen as coming under pressure.

Voting began at 20:00 GMT on Saturday in the Russia's eastern regions and is due to finish 21 hours later when polling stations close at 17:00 GMT on Sunday in the enclave of Kaliningrad, wedged between Poland and Lithuania.
