The first really memorable massage I received was one that my mother gifted to me. Judy, a registered Nurse, had trained in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and was an amazing woman who put all of her emotion and caring into everything that she did.
The massage was profound - it changed the way my body, particularly my lower back, felt for months, and opened up my mind to something more powerful, and loving, than I had previously known.
This introduction to Hawaiian bodywork was one of her legacies to me. When she passed away, it took me some time to remember that I wanted to learn this bodywork. But I remembered, and I did.
I've been massaging for over ten years now, and Essential Bodywork is a culmination of my experience.

I have recently given Hawaiian Lomi Lomi instruction to spa staff at The Andaman, Langkawi, in Malaysia (Sept, 2010). This spa was named Asia's Leading Spa Resort by the World Travel Awards in 2010. I've also trained spa staff in a five star spa in Singapore, named Earth Sanctuary.
I have been fortunate enough to study Thai Massage at ITM, in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Hawaiian bodywork in Australia, with Mettes Institute, and in Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, with Fern Merle-Jones. I hold a Diploma of Remedial Massage, and am working on a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which gives me accreditation as a Trainer in Australia.
In 2003, I founded a successful shopfront massage business in Peregian Village, called Sea to Sky Massage. After several busy years, I sold this business, and now I practise from a more personal, home-based clinic, in Peregian Beach, on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.
I've worked in day spas including The Golden Door Retreat in Willowvale and the Hyatt Regency Coolum Sun Spa, both five star destinations. While I have studied many different energetic modalities, including Reiki, my passion remains with Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and the Seven Spiritual Principles which make up the Huna Philosophy.
1. IKE - The world is what you think it is
2. KALA - There are no limits.
3. MAKIA - Energy flows where attention goes
4. MANAWA- Now is the moment of power.
5. ALOHA - To love is to be happy with
6. MANA - All power comes from within
7. PONO- Effectiveness is the measure of truth
At Essential Bodywork, I specialise in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, a very special, nurturing form of bodywork. You can choose to receive this bodywork in a peaceful, tropical Day Spa setting at Peregian Beach, or mobile in the comfort of your own space.
