A suicide bomber killed at least 63 people and wounded over 60 more in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Monday, according to a police source.
The uniformed attacker targeted troops rehearsing for a military parade.
Yemen's defence minister and chief of staff were present at the event but were not hurt in the blast, a military source said.
Casualties were loaded into vehicles marked with the Red Crescent charity sign following the explosion.
A Reuters witness said the wounded were also being ferried to hospitals in taxis.
The attack coincided with a U.S.-backed Yemeni army offensive against al Qaeda-linked militants in the south of the country, where they control several towns.
