Tourists from all over the world are coming to Malaysia to watch the illuminations created when millions of male and female fireflies communicate with each other.

But their glow is fading. Over time, developers have been cutting down the forests that sustains the insects.

Al Jazeera's Laura Kyle spent a night along the Kuala Selangor river, where efforts to save the fireflies could be too late.
