The Chinese communist party is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

Under its founder Mao Zedong, policies like the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward resulted in the deaths of millions of people.

Nonetheless, Mao is still revered, and his home town has become a major tourist attraction.
