Greece's top three political parties on Sunday held talks with President Karolos Papoulias in a final bid to form a government.
The head of state met with the leaders of conservative New Democracy, the Socialists and Syriza, a radical leftist party that rejects the terms of an EU-IMF bailout.
Sources say New Democracy is asking for a two-year interim government to be appointed.
