74 days without food.

Two Palestinian prisoners held in Israel, Bilal Diab and Thaer Halahleh, enter day 74 of their hunger strike, which has sparked a mass movement.

Another 1,600 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have also stopped taking food since April, demanding an end to administrative detention and more family visits.

The Director of Physicians for Human Rights says Halahleh is willing to die for the cause.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ANAT LITVIN, DIRECTOR OF PRISONERS AND DETAINEES DEPARTMENT AT PHYSICIANS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS ISRAEL, SAYING:

"His doctor told him that his life is in immediate danger and that he could die at any moment and what is very worrisome is the fact that he said that he doesn't want to be saved if something happens to him and he loses consciousness. He doesn't want resuscitation."

Earlier in the week Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad was pressed to do more to resolve the situation by crowds in Ramallah.

There are daily demonstrations in the occupied West Bank and in the Gaza Strip in support of the movement.
