Former mafia boss Benardo Provenzano has apparently tried to commit suicide in his prison cell in Parma.
He was found with a plastic bag over his head, but did not suffer any life threatening injuries.
After 43 years on the run, he was arrested in April 2006 and is serving several life sentences.
