Even as polls suggest a narrowing lead over presidential rival Nicolas Sarkozy, a relaxed Francois Hollande greets supporters at a local market in Tulle, where he began his political career.
Sunday is the final round of voting which could see Hollande as the new French president.
He would be the first Socialist candidate to become head of state since Francois Mitterrand in 1981.
