A relative calm has returned to the streets of Bangkok after bloody clashes between soldiers and anti-government protesters.

Most of the so-called "Red Shirt" protesters have gone home to the countryside to celebrate the Thai New Year.

But as Al Jazeera's Tong Cheng reports from Thailand's northeast, tensions still run deep.
