An Israeli field-car wizard has single-handedly developed and manufactured a vehicle capable of extreme performance. He believes it can serve not only fans of this activity, but also security forces around the world.

Zibar, a field-car its creators say has the best performance of any vehicle of its kind has been launched in Israel.

The developer, Edo Cohen, has built 12 prototypes destined to be sold in Israel and abroad.

According to Cohen, this is not your run-of-the-mill field-car.

[Edo Cohen, Zibar Manufacturer]:
"Zibar is destined to serve wherever security services and security units are in need of high-level mobility. It's a vehicle without limitations, it can pass through fences, ditches, thick bush, rocks, swamps, quarries -- it's capable of doing all that. The wheels are very big - over 3 feet in diameter, but the body itself is small. The suspension-travel is huge and the engine is very powerful. Put all this together and you have a vehicle you can trust."

It took Cohen some 10 years to develop the prototype of the Zibar.

[Edo Cohen, Zibar Manufacturer]:
"I've been making cars with my own hands since I was a child, and I've never made compromises because I always strive to make it better and better."

The manufacturing process met with bureaucratic obstacles and difficulties in achieving parts.

It also entailed financial challenges.

[Edo Cohen, Zibar Manufacturer]:
"To develop a car without funding is almost impossible. My wife and I have sacrificed a considerable portion of our quality of life to this project."

Cohen hopes to step up production of the Zibar next year.
