ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
Clashes in Tuesday night and Wednesday between protesters and armed "thugs" outside the Egyptian Ministry of Defence in Cairo resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people.
Demonstrators have been holding a sit-in since Friday, intially in repsonse to their candidate being barred from this month's presidential election.
The protesters have since been joined by activists from other groups, and are calling for an end to military rule.
The Health Ministry said more than 100 people had been wounded in the dawn fighting with sticks, stones, batons and bullets.
