While the Olympics is all about showcasing China's modern face the country is also beginning to value its past by pushing to preserve some of the city's distinctive hutongs in Beijing.

Al Jazeera meets one family from these neighbourhoods of courtyard houses originating in the Yuan dynasty more than 700 years ago who are preparing to welcome the world.
