The year 1989 was a year of anticipation of the 1990 World Cup for football fans across the world, and Sega decided to capitalize with the release of World Championship Soccer. A top-down camera angle, elimination of fouls, bookings, and offside, and altogether shoddy production is, unfortunately, an accurate description of the World Cup that was to follow.
