As Christians around the world mark the birth of Jesus Christ, for one Syrian village the day has a little extra significance.

Maaloula is one of very few places where Western Aramaic, the native language of Jesus, is still spoken.

But as Jane Dutton reports, despite determined efforts by residents and the government, the ancient tongue is in danger of dying out.
