Liza Minnelli walked the red carpet in Los Angeles on Thursday (April 12) to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of "Cabaret" - the film that brought her an Oscar for best actress in 1972.
The film was being screened as the opening of the third annual TCM Classic Movie Festival - which honors films from Hollywood's historic past.
Minnelli said it did not seem like 40 years had passed since she went to Berlin to work on the movie.
SOUNDBITE: Liza Minnelli saying (English):
"No, not at all. It doesn't seem that at all. But then again, I don't live in the past. I'm always here or looking towards the future. What I do remember about the film is that a lot of people think it was, they hear, "Cabaret," and they think a frivolous musical. It's not. It's very interesting - about right when the Nazis were taking over and Berlin was so decadent. Divinely decadent. It's hot."
As for her future, she said she's not sure what the next 40 years have in store - but whatever it is, she's looking forward to it.
SOUNDBITE: Liza Minnelli saying (English):
"I don't know, but somebody will call me tomorrow. Maybe I'll record again with a rock and roll group, or do another film in Bolivia. Whatever. I just wait."
"Cabaret" has been fully restored for its anniversary and will be re-released on DVD.
