Macky Sall takes the oath of office on Monday as he is sworn in as Senegal's new president.
Sall's victory ends incumbent Abdoulaye Wade's bid for a third term as president, and marks the culmination of a bloody election campaign.
The octegenarian politician reportedly phoned Sall to congratulate him on his victory, according to state broadcaster RPS.
Sall, who was Prime Minister under Wade from 2004 to 2007, is scheduled to take office on April 3.
