Europe's biggest volcano puts on a spectacular show.

Italy' s Mount Etna erupts in the early hours of Sunday morning, spewing lava and ash into the sky over the island of Sicily.

A trail of lava coursed down the side of the volcano, and some ash landed on a nearby village.

But Italian officials said there was no damage and nearby airports remain open.

Etna is Europe's most active volcano - this is the fifth time this year it has blown its lid.
