Dozens of suspected members of the Calabrian mafia, the 'Ndrangheta, have been arrested in a wave of morning raids.

They took place in Cosenza in the organisation's heartland, as well as in central and northern Italy.

Those detained face charges including murder, extortion and belonging to mafia-like organisations.
